about
‘Song for Sara’, I wrote for a cherished friend of mine who we lost last year. A very dear human.
I spent two weeks recording the song at home, and taking advantage of the recent lockdown, managed to collaborate remotely with two wonderful musician pals:
Singer Kaela Rowan, who provides soul and femininity to this track, and renowned percussionist James Mackintosh (Transatlantic Sessions, Shooglenifty etc.) provides the meaningful groove.
lyrics
Almost stayed, nearly watched you wade, another sister saw, you were 8 hours close.
And the hound may hold, the black and old one, a trodden path, he'll meet you undone.
Wherever you go love and light goes with you...
Such a year, such a tear to shed, yesterday, was when Sara left.
And the horse moves slow, it was an honour to know you.
You sewed the tears before you flew, a trace of fond behind you,
you struck the children with your lure, loved by all around you.
Wherever you go love and light goes with you...
